Yosuda Rowing Machine Review (2024): Pros, Cons & Our Verdict

Our Honest Review of the 4 Yosuda rowing machine models

Hi friends! I’m Petra, and today, I want to talk about some fairly new rowing machines that I recently discovered.

The Yosuda company has been making exercise equipment for at least 20 years, but it looks like they only recently started selling on Amazon.

One of my clients had one of these so I had the opportunity to use one myself as I gave her some pieces of advice and pointers on using a rowing machine.

I was surprised to find that the company not only has 4 different rowing machine models, but they also sell stationary bikes and treadmills, among other items.

If you are looking for a budget rower without a lot of fancy gadgets because you’re a low-tech person or a beginner who isn’t even sure that you will love rowing, this would be the perfect place for you to start.

Yosuda Rowing Machines- All the Info You Need to Know

As mentioned earlier, there are 4 different models to choose from so let me start from the most affordable and go on from there.

1. Yosuda Magnetic Rowing Machine

This is the basic or introductory rowing machine from Yosuda.

You’ll immediately notice its sleek and impressive look. This may be a budget rower, but it is made from an alloy steel, which means that it should hold up to many years of use.

Let me run down the best features of this machine:

  • Low-noise flywheel: It has a 10-pound flywheel that provides nearly silent operation.
  • Durable handle: The cord on the handle is made from nylon, which is maintenance-free and should last for decades.
  • User-friendly, backlit LCD monitor: This rower has a very basic LCD monitor that displays your vital workout metrics, such as time, distance, stroke count, and calories burned. This allows you to monitor your improvement over time. The easy-to-read monitor is backlit, making it accessible even in low-light conditions, and its user-friendly interface ensures a hassle-free experience during workouts.
  • Pocket-friendly price: One reason for this rower’s budget price is that there is no big tablet or monitor with expensive workouts to add to the cost. It is completely Bluetooth compatible, with a generously sized tablet holder. You can use your tablet so you can watch Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, or access the Kinomap or iFit app for workouts if you like.
  • Ergonomic seat: Most budget rowing machines offer very few comforts, so I was surprised by the seat on the model I used. The large, contoured seat provides a smooth gliding motion, reducing pressure on the lower back and ensuring a comfortable workout session.
  • Space-saver: It stores upright and uses very little floor space when not in use.
  • 16 resistance levels: There are 16 resistance levels that should cover all but the most advanced users.
  • 350 pounds weight capacity: Maximum user weight is 350 pounds, which is super impressive. I’ve seen plenty of higher-priced rowing machines that couldn’t manage this much weight.
  • Fits users from 4’5″ tall to 6’2″ inches tall: Unless you are really, really short or extremely tall, you will be able to use this foldable rower.

The Yosuda magnetic rowing machine is a real bargain, especially when you look at all the features. If you have a home gym or are tired of paying for that gym membership, this is a terrific option.

This is a budget rowing machine to be sure and will be a perfect choice if you want a low-tech option that still allows you to watch TV as you row or view your own workouts.

Most beginners seem to start off at resistance level 2 or 3. After 6 months or so, they move up to 3 or 4. With 16 levels of resistance, you can see that there’s a lot of room for you to feel challenged by the Yosuda magnetic rowing machine.

YOSUDA Magnetic Rowing Machine uses a 10-lb flywheel, offering 16 levels of magnetic resistance of up to 50 pounds

This rowing machine needs no electricity, just two AAA batteries. This means that if you want to use it in your shed, your garage, or even outdoors, this won’t be a problem.

Of course, if you want to watch Netflix or Hulu, you’ll need an internet connection unless you’ve downloaded a movie previously, but I like all the options you get with this magnetic rowing machine.

The Final Word: I think the Yosuda magnetic rowing machine is a fantastic addition to any home gym.

2. Yosuda Magnetic Pro Rowing Machine

While this rowing machine looks nearly the same as the previous magnetic rowing machine, it’s about $100 more. This is the model I used, so straight away I can tell you that the price difference is due to the improved seat, handlebar, and folding design, but there’s definitely more.

This rowing machine is super easy to assemble, with most people saying that they did so in less than 30 minutes. The owner of the Magnetic Pro rower I used said that there are videos to help explain the assembly process, and they are easy to follow.

model showing the Easy folding and space saving features of YOSUDA Magnetic Pro Rowing Machine

Like the regular rowing machine mentioned above, the Pro model has lots of features you would expect to find on much more expensive models, including:

  • 16 levels of resistance: This magnetic rower has the same 10-pound flywheel and 16 resistance levels as the first Yosuda model above.
  • Folds and stores upright: What really caught my attention was that the Pro model folds – unlike the other three models in this review. That makes this the perfect rowing machine for those in apartments or those living in smaller spaces, occupying an area of only 28.7″L X 19.3″W when folded.
  • Low-noise magnetic resistance: Another big plus for me is that it is virtually silent due to the magnetic resistance it uses. Try watching TV in the same room as an air rower! There is no comparison!
  • Weight capacity of 350 pounds: Thanks to its steel frame, it can easily handle most people in my office or at home because of its maximum user weight capacity of 350 pounds. Its dimensions also make it suitable for users up to 6’7″ tall. I’m not that tall, but many people I know are.
  • Backlit LCD monitor: I did expect a basic LCD monitor, but I was still pleasantly surprised that it is backlit, is easy to read, and provides you with all the important metrics you want to know and keep track of, such as SPM, time elapsed, and calories burned.
  • With Bluetooth connectivity: Who doesn’t want fun and effective workouts? This rower is completely Bluetooth enabled, allowing me to use my third-party heart rate monitor, enjoy music from my headphone, and track other info from my fitness watch.
  • Comes with a tablet holder: It has a large tablet shelf so you can use your tab with Kinomap or iFit apps and do rowing workouts as you please. Alternatively, you can watch Netflix or watch TV, the choice is yours.
  • Large and adjustable foot pedals: If you have multiple users at home (like I do), there’s no need to worry about feet sizes and how they’ll fit. This rower has sturdy straps that you can adjust to various foot sizes, providing stability and preventing slippage for a safe and effective workout.YOSUDA Magnetic Pro Rowing Machine dimensions

The Yosuda Magnetic Pro Indoor Rowing Machine is a really impressive piece of fitness equipment for the price that delivers an excellent rowing experience. Its sturdy steel frame, adjustable magnetic resistance, and ergonomic design of the seat and handlebar ensure a comfortable and efficient workout for just about everyone.

The Final Word: This was the model that I used, and I was impressed at how good this machine felt. Not only did it feel incredibly smooth, it was also free from the little squeaks and rubbing noises that lower-end magnetic rowing machines are known for.

This magnetic rowing machine felt sturdy and was extremely quiet, and I liked it so much I wanted to write about this line of fitness equipment! That’s how much this little magnetic rowing machine impressed me.

3. The Yosuda Pro Max Magnetic Rowing Machine

This is Yosuda’s top-of-the-line rowing machine from what I can see, and for just a few dollars more, you get some impressive features.

Like the other rowers from Yosuda, this one also has a steel frame, magnetic resistance, and supports users up to 350 pounds, but it does have a few extra features, such as:

  • Adjustable monitor: You can see more easily with the Pro Max monitor. While it appears to be the same performance monitor as the others, it sits on an arm so you can tilt it for easy viewing.
  • 12-lb flywheel: Now there’s the difference! Like the other models we reviewed, the Pro Max rower has 16 levels of resistance but is equipped with a slightly heavier 12-pound flywheel.
  • Comes with a bottle holder: You’ll find a convenient water bottle holder with this one!
  • Completely Bluetooth compatible: With this feature, you can use your Bluetooth headphones, fitness watches, heart rate monitors, and more to make your workout more effective and enjoyable.
  • Floor levelers: You need not worry about uneven surfaces because this rower is designed with nifty floor levelers that you can adjust to make the machine steady.
  • Does not fold but has wheels: I want to mention that this rower does not fold so take that into consideration if you have limited space. It has small wheels that make it easy to move around.

There are many positive reviews about this rowing machine so you should feel confident about the build quality on this model.

The model I used was extremely smooth and quiet, and many other users mention the same.

The Final Word: One of the best things about the Pro Max is its value for the price. It is priced significantly lower than many other rowing machines with similar features, making it a great option for budget-minded buyers.

4. The Yosuda Water Rower

If you’ve had your heart set on a water rower but were put off by the price, wait no more! This is one of the most affordable water rowers I’ve seen in a long time.

This budget rower has a bunch of features that you’ll find on some of the name-brand rowers so don’t think that low-price means stripped down.

Like the others I’ve reviewed before, this Yosuda rower can handle heavier rowers (up to 350 pounds) and has an aluminum frame so you won’t have to worry about rust.

YOSUDA Water Rowing Machines with Smooth Aluminum Dual Slide Rail

Other features that will surprise you about this water rower include:

  • Water resistance lets you feel as if you are rowing on a body of water: The sweet, gentle sound of whooshing water is pleasant and not overly loud.
  • Performance monitor is compatible with a third-party heart rate monitor:  It is slightly different from other PM in that this one will allow you to hook up a third-party heart rate monitor and read directly off the screen. Otherwise, this is still a basic monitor.
  • Leak-free water tank: The sturdy polycarbonate water tank is super strong and sealed so that there aren’t any leaks- ever!
  • Completely Bluetooth compatible: Listen to music via your Bluetooth headphones, or you can watch TV with your Bt-capable gadget, use iFit or download the Kinomap or FitShow app for workouts.

The Yosuda water rower is comparable in features to other name brands but without the name-brand price. I love the clear tank and red paddles inside. This little rowing machine works as good as it looks, which is a hard combination to find these days.

YOSUDA Water Rowing Machine's dimensions and specs

If you are taller than most rowing machine users, you will be happy to know that this budget rowing machine fits users up to 6’2″ tall.

As you might expect from a water rower, it doesn’t fold, so check out the dimensions in the chart above to be sure you have enough space to use it.

This Yosuda rower has excellent reviews and is the perfect answer for those looking at budget rowers.

The Final Word: For anyone who has been wanting a water rower but was concerned about the price, this Yosuda rowing machine is the perfect combination of price, style, and durability.

Yosuda Rowing Machine Installation

I know that people are always concerned about assembly when it comes to buying a rowing machine online.

Personally, I don’t think you have much to worry about here. My friend said that it took her only 20 minutes to assemble her rowing machine, and she’s not usually a DIYer.30 minutes assembly of YOSUDA Magnetic Rowing Machine

A Yosuda rowing machine should go together in less than 30 minutes, with some saying that you only need to tighten a dozen screws.

The Yosuda magnetic rowing machine also comes with online video assembly and installation instructions. Even if you don’t understand the paper directions, the online videos make assembly as easy as pie.

Do Yosuda Rowers Have Bluetooth?

You bet they do!

This is one of the terrific things about these rowing machines- there is no need for electricity. All you need are two AAA batteries to run both the performance monitor and the Bluetooth function.

With Bluetooth compatibility, even budget models can make it possible for you to use your own Bluetooth-enabled headphones, and fitness watches, and connect to whatever fitness app you’ve downloaded onto your tablet, whether it’s iFit or Kinomap.Easy-read LCD monitor and tablet holder of YOSUDA Magnetic Rowing Machine

Now Yosuda indoor rowers are designed to be used with the Kinomap or FitShow app, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use other apps, such as iFit or watch YouTube videos. This simply means that the resistance levels won’t be changed automatically for you, but that’s OK.

In the center of the console is a knob that controls the resistance levels, so one quick turn and you’re back in business.

You can find out more about iFit here.

If you have internet, you can watch whatever you like on your tablet as you work out, including Netflix and Hulu, or you can even talk to your friends.

Magnetic rowing machines and water rowers are not all the same! Yosuda Magnetic rowers are full of features without the big-name price tag, and that’s a big deal in my book!

Are Yosuda Rowing Machines Any Good?

When it comes to value for the price, yes, they are remarkably good!

The seat is especially comfortable, which is really saying something for a low-end, budget rower. There’s plenty of resistance, something budget magnetic rowing machines are not known for.

YOSUDA Magnetic Rowing Machine is suitable for tall users

Yosuda rowing machines accommodate rowers who are quite tall, another impressive feature that you won’t find on other machines.

The magnetic rowing machine model that I used wasn’t brand-new but was remarkably quiet, and that really impressed me.

I like that Yosuda gives you choices when it comes to workouts. You can use the Kinomap or FitShow app or watch something else if you prefer.

YOSUDA Water Rowing Machines with Bluetooth and Kinomap

You can get incredibly intense workouts using either the magnetic rowing machine or the water rower, both of which come at a price that most people can afford.

You should also consider that the overwhelming majority of reviews from other users are super positive. There were a few quality control issues, such as a missing knob or screw, but no real complaints about breaking down within weeks (or days), not working out of the box, or issues with the assembly.

If you’re like me, user reviews matter, and the fact that you will be hard-pressed to find any truly negative reviews says a lot about the quality of these budget rowers.

When you add up the resistance, high quality, flexibility, and terrific reviews, the Yosuda rowers sound like real value for the dollar right there!

Before You Go ….

I’ve used dozens of rowing machines over the years, but I was quite impressed with my experience using the Yosuda magnetic rower.

Yosuda rowing machines are truly an outstanding indoor rowing machine that excels in both form and function.

FAQs

1. Is Yosuda rowing machine installation really that easy?

It seems too good to be true, but it appears that assembly is as easy as 1-2-3. The Yosuda website says assembly should take less than 30 minutes and multiple reviewers have stated that it’s very simple.

2. What is the warranty on the Yosuda Rowers?

This is the only place where you might have a concern. There is a 30-day, no-questions-asked money-back return policy, but after that things get a bit confusing. The Yosuda website says they offer “a life-long” warranty, but other places state that they only ship parts with no mention of time. Life-long could mean many things. Your life? The “life” of the machine, which is what? I think it’s safe to assume that for a while (and there is no guarantee about how long that is), Yosuda will send you parts if there is a problem but don’t expect too much when it comes to a warranty.

3. Do Yosuda rowing machines fold up?

Some models do, yes. Read my review for which ones do or consult their website.

4. Which is better, the Yosuda magnetic rowing machine or the Yosuda water rower?

This would depend on your own preferences and budget. If price is what concerns you, consider one of the magnetic rowers. If you want to feel as if you are rowing on the water and you enjoy the sound of running water, go with the Yosuda water rower. The choice here is truly yours.
